What a Transformation! Raven Symone.

I have posted before about how much I like Raven Symone. She is so multi-talented with acting, singing, entrepreneurship, etc. She also gives back to young girls along the way.

Over the years her weight has fluctuated, not unlike mine or many other women's, but she is always beautiful and carried her weight well. But I have to say I was stunned when I saw these recent shots of her at The First Annual Diamond Awards. Wow Raven! Whatever she is doing (hopefully in a healthy way), her figure looks amazing and I hope she feels that way too.

Look at her now. What a transformation!

  1. She looks great! I'm so glad to see she's at a healthy weight! I love Raven but her obesity while on "That's So Raven" had me weeping. Black girls do not need an overweight role model when almost 80% are obese and overweight. It's not healthy or attractive and I'm so happy that raven took action while she is still young.

  2. She looks great at any weight. And as someone that used to frequently watch her show I never considered her to be obese (thats a serious exaggeration. If anything I commend her for portraying what a real African American girl can look like. True her weight did fluctuate on the show but at least she was never rauchy, hoochie, or just a straight up hot mess like some of these other girls runnin around BET.

  4. I am not too sure about the new Raven... She took control of her weight while she was still young which is good because the older you get the harder it is, but somehow she looks just the same as everybody else. Obesity is one thing, but thin doesn't necessarily mean healthy. Hopefully she didn't resort to desperate measures to lose weight.

  5. Chantel, Raven was obese and is still overweight. Look at a BMI chart. Even low estimations of her weight have her classified as overweight. Black girls and women have the highest rates of obesity and overweight in the U.S. Part of the problem is denial and too much normalizing of overweight in our culture.

wait a minute...just because many black girls are overweight we should act like it's okay and just give them a clearly overweight role model instead of a healthy one (or one that at least looks healthy like Raven does now)?

that's like saying "well, all these girls smoke, so lets give them a role model who smokes also instead of giving them one who doesn't. Since we want them to be able to relate and all"

People make me sick with this "oh now she looks like everyone else" bullsh*t.

  7. she looks more healthy in the white dress pic also, not just the silver dress one.

  8. I don't know if it's the hairdo or what, but the face doesn't look like the same person to me. Are we sure this is Raven? Hmmm....
