The order of operations was first, I jumped in the shower and shampooed with the 2 in 1 Tingling Shampoo. I followed up with the Damaged Hair Medicated Treatment that I left in for about 3 minutes. After rinsing, I sprayed my whole head with the Healing Leave In Treatment and Conditioner.
Let's just say my hair was very mad at me by the end of this. The products were drying, the tingling felt like my head was freezing and on fire at the same time, and the smell was so over powering that it literally took my breath away. Menthol and clove overload! Why Dr. Miracle's?
My hair was so tangled and very snarly. I was unable to detangle successfully with any of this product so I ended up whipping out another staple condish to get through my hair. I was hoping the thick creamy Medicated Treatment would soften my hair so I could get through it. Well, it sat on top and did not seem to penetrate at all. The leave in made my hair almost squeaky and dried very quickly. I had to rewet my hair and apply castor oil to make it feel like hair again.
Overall, these three products did not work for my hair. I kept thinking that they might be better for relaxed hair that does not require as much effort to detangle. Although, I cannot imagine that anyone could use these three things back to back and not feel completely dried out.
Ok, so some constructive criticism. One, ditch the scent and opt for something softer. I get that these products are being marketed as medicated, healing, etc, but there is no woman (or man for that matter) that I know who would like to smell like a bag of cloves. Second, maybe take out the mineral oil and add some shea butter to the mix. I am no chemist or product specialist but I can feel a difference after using something with mineral oil, especially since I don't use it normally at all.
Final thoughts....not pleased, cannot see myself using these products again. :~(
I still have a few more to review so that will be coming up. I hope to use heat with one of them so maybe that will make a difference. We'll see....
thanks for doing this review. i've always wondered about dr.miracles when i see it at my local drugstore.
ReplyDeleteYour review is the third I've seen on natural hair blogs this year about Dr. Miracle's products, and all three have said basically the same thing. Pretty much guarantees I won't be trying it. So thank you for saving some of us a little $$$.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who hates this packaging? Even prescription medication comes in prettier bottles!
ReplyDeleteI used a Dr. Miracle's product about 5 years ago; it might have been an oil, but I really can't remember what it was. I do remember that it smelled like a holiday ham (that's the cloves for you!) and it tingled intensely for hours. Even if it didn't make my hair smell like Thanksgiving, I wouldn't have used it again because the tingling would have been too much for me to handle on a regular basis.
ReplyDeleteI felt the same!
ReplyDeleteI used to use it when relaxed & it worked well but on my natural hair it didn't!
I tried the ralaxer and it was okay, nothing special. I did try their 2-n-1 shampoo and it dries out my hair...than one time! Never again. I'm currently wearing my hair braided and curly hair sown in while I wait for it to grow out more.
ReplyDeleteI will NEVER use/purchase any Dr. Miracles products based on their ignorant ads/commercials alone.
ReplyDeleteI noticed that Dr. Mircle worked better when I still relaxed my hair a few years ago. As a natural (and I don't mind the tingling) it does nothing for my hair but sit on it.
ReplyDeletedr.miracle's products work very qood 4 mee. the 1st time i used it, ma hair felt awesome & i noticed it immediately. p.s- i have natural curly hair. & do not use heat or perms on my hair. therefore b4 usin the product, my hair waz already shoulder lenqth. it rests on the top of my back nw.
ReplyDeletei first used dr.miracle when my hair was severely damaged.it was thinning and i had a bald spot.i had to cut it really short. i started using dr.miracle and i love it. tingling and all. i have been using it for a couple months now and it's fuller and longer. my spot is slowly coming along everyone notice the difference.
ReplyDeleteI actually like Dr Mircles prodcuts, use the 2n1 Tingling shampoo on my locked hair. My hair doesn't have any buildup and feels soft and clean after. Also I have been using the gro oil for the past two years and love it, I like the minty and cinnamon smell. but everyone hair is different
ReplyDeleteDr. Miracle has helped me trmendously. When using this product my hair grew about an inch each month. When I stopped using it, the growth slowed down tremendously
ReplyDeletethis did not work on my hair. i'm from the caribbean and i have tight curls. this product 'ate' at my hairline causing it to thin out, break and some of my hair came out.
ReplyDeletei swear the only miracle is if my hair recovers from this madness.
epic fail on my part
I was reluctant to try the Dr Miracle's 2 in 1 tingling shampoo after suffering chemical burns to my scalp. However, I was thankful once I did! I love the products....haven't seen my hair this healthy in years. AND....my husband loves the smell of my hair!
ReplyDeleteDr Miracle has cost me hundreds of dollars. My son used this product while at someone’s home who said this was a very good product for him to try. 1st was the tingling sensation to waking up the next day with his lymph nodes swollen on his neck, his face broke out into a rash down both sides, and his scalp leaking with puss. Two days later I took him to Urgent Care and he was put on 4 meds. He finish the course of meds then the next day more bumps was on my face and bigger, his scalp was oozing blood now. He went back to Urgent Care who and they put him on even more meds and referred him to a Dermatologist. He finished the second course of meds then woke up with his whole body broke out in bumps, scabs, sores, in pain, irritated, and looking horrible. After seeing the Dermatologist and being put me on a Steroid 6 pills a day he started having some relief during the day. At night he was back to being in pain and blood oozing out of his scalp. Three weeks into this it’s still going on and he is still seeing the Dermatologist. He now has bald spots in his head and still miserable. I don’t know what the end result of this situation is going to be but I will tell you going to the doctor every week is not cheap with or without insurance.

ReplyDeleteFirst of all, it's true that the product is too strong to be used as a line back to back. I would suggest to ease into it trying each product as everyone's hair is different. I first tried different little sachets that I saw at a store. I'm not a fan of the oils but I like the deep conditioning treatment as it didn't weigh my hair down and gave it body. Now I've finally bought the entire jar of the Medicated Treatment. From my experience I've learned that the entire line usually doens't work for me and just like anything, you have to give it time ... even for Miracles!
